Spectacular Lanzarote For Your Perfect Sun Kissed Holiday

by Blog4Leisure on September 6, 2011

The volcanic island of Lanzarote has been a favourite with holidaymakers for well over forty years, ever since tourism took off in Spain. But unlike many of its neighbouring destinations, it has managed to keep the development of its coastline under control.

So each of its three holiday resorts is able to offer relaxing attractive environments, where there is plenty for children to do and some great beaches. And as there are no high rise buildings, almost every villa or apartment can boast of a nice sea view.

These factors help to explain why many visitors choose to come back for another holiday to the island, as there is plenty to see and do even on a second or third trip. With the many attractions developed by artist Cesar Manrique often topping the list.

Lanzarote offers more than just sun and sand too. The island is home to some incredible natural wonders such as the Timanfaya Park, the Valley of 1000 Palms and the green lagoon at El Golfo. As well as loads of pretty little towns and villages to explore and the many creations of a well known local artist and architect César Manrique. Such as the Mirador del Rio, Cactus Garden and the Jameos del Agua.

There is a vast array of accommodation on Lanzarote ranging from all inclusive resorts to family run rural bed and breakfasts and rural villas in Lanzarote situated in the picturesque countryside.

Amongst the most attractive are Puerto del Carmen holiday villas, with many situated in Los Mojones, considered one of the best areas on the island. And where villas are extremely spacious and luxuriously appointed.

In the southern resort of Playa Blanca there is an equally good range of properties available. villas in Playa Blanca are more modern, with airy interiors, all mod cons and great swimming pools, so are ideal for families.

And they are closer to the number one attraction on the island, which is the volcano park at Timanfaya. Here children can get a camel ride or watch a number of stunning demonstrations. Whilst adult visitors are enthralled by the expanse of lava and craters that the tour passes through.

Fortunately, the local island government has no plans to radically change Lanzarote, so it will probably continue to be a firm favourite with holidaymakers for many years to come.
